SECTION 1.
Sir,
Foreign Office to India Office.
Foreign Office, September 9, 1910, I AM directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to inform you that the Netherland Minister called at this department on the 1st instant, and stated that it would be very inconvenient to his Government, on account of their Parliamentary proceedings, If the projected Opium Conference were to be fixed for some date between the 1st October and the end of the present year. They would therefore be glad to know, as soon as possible, whether His Majesty's Government agreed to the postponement of the conference till 1911.
After semi-official consultation with your department, Baron Gericke was informed that His Majesty's Government had no objection to the proposed postponement.
Sir E. Grey presumes that Viscount Morley will inform him, as soon as he is in a position to do so, of the date in 1911, which would, in his Lordship's opinion, be convenient for the assembly of the conference.
I am, &c.
